Bill Sutter is the chief financial officer for the Boulder Valley School District in Boulder, Colorado, a public Pre-K–12 school district of just over 31,000 students located about 20 miles northwest of Denver, with boundaries encompassing approximately 500 square miles. He has been the CFO of the Boulder Valley School District for the past 2 years, with 18 years prior experience in the district’s accounting and budget departments.
Sutter received an MBA from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder, and an undergraduate dual degree in business administration and history from the University of New Hampshire in Durham.
A member of ASBO International since 2005, he currently serves on the Meritorious Budget Award Advisory Committee. He served as the president of the Colorado Association of School Business Officials for two years, recently finishing his term as the immediate past president for the 2016-2017 school year.
Sutter has also served in leadership roles for various Colorado school finance organizations, including the State Financial Policies and Procedures Committee, and currently serves on the board of directors for the Colorado School Finance Project.
