New for 2010 — Join the Sustainability Revolution!
Donate to A Gift For Teaching
We’re excited to partner with A Gift For Teaching, a non-profit that collects unwanted supplies and surplus merchandise and distributes them to more than 8,673 teachers from the area’s highest need schools through its Free Store for teachers.
In addition to its charitable efforts, A Gift For Teaching was recognized by the Florida Council of Sustainability as the Most Sustainable Non-Profit in Florida. Since inception, A Gift For Teaching has diverted 4,070 tons of waste from landfills.
You can make a difference for Florida’s underprivileged students by making a material or monetary donation in the Exhibit Hall. For every $1 received, $10 worth of supplies goes back to the classroom.
Second Annual Positive Impact Program Friday, September 24, 12:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Become an Angel in Action at Give Kids The World Village (GKTW). GKTW Village is a 70-acre, non-profit resort in Central Florida that provides a cost-free fantasy vacation for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families. With the help of many generous volunteers, known on-property as "angels," GKTW has welcomed more than 100,000 families from all 50 states and over 70 countries.
Every week, GKTW has 1,200 volunteer shifts to fill. That's where you come in! Projects include, but are not limited to, landscaping, face painting, working the Ice Cream Palace, railroad track maintenance, sanding of the Avenue of Angels, washing/waxing of vehicles, brass polishing on the carousel, holiday decorating and removal, and more. Registration is $75 — 100% of which goes to GKTW.

Bone Marrow and Blood Drives in the Exhibit Hall
Step up to save someone’s life. This year, for the first time, ASBO International will be partnering with Kids Beating Cancer and Florida’s Blood Centers to host bone marrow and blood drives in the Exhibit Hall.
Ongoing Environmental Efforts
ASBO International is committed to hosting “paper-lite” meetings, using paper only where absolutely necessary.
The association has completely eliminated the use of disposable cups, plates, and utensils, and provides all attendees with reusable water bottles. In addition, we select badge holders and conference bags made from recycled or sustainable materials.
To increase recycling and repurposing of exhibit hall materials, we ask exhibitors to sort unwanted items into bins labeled “Trash,” “Recycle,” and “Donate.”

2009 Annual Meeting: Proven Track Record
At our 2009 Annual Meeting, attendees and exhibitors donated 135 volunteer hours to transform a struggling local school into a vibrant and energetic learning center.
We also joined forces with Chicago Public Schools to coordinate a donation program benefitting eight elementary schools in need. Exhibitors and attendees donated school furniture and supplies—valued at nearly $27,000.
