“From my very first ASBO International Annual Meeting, I brought back numerous relevant materials and ideas that I could quickly implement in my district. Twenty-five years later, I continue to find many cost-saving ideas and best practices.”

First Time Attendees

Before the Conference

Attending a professional development event for the first time can be overwhelming, so we’ve pulled together all the information you need to prepare in one place.

Review these tips and highlights to help you make the most of your first Annual Meeting experience.

Event Information

Click here for more hotel and transportation information.

What to Bring?

Some ideas:
  • Business cards (for easy networking and to enter vendor raffles in the exhibit hall).
  • Electronics and chargers. (We’re wireless this year, so you’ll be able to connect and take notes on your tablet in the meeting rooms.)
  • Comfortable and professional attire. (You’ll be doing a lot of walking between sessions, and conference centers can often be chilly, so we encourage dressing in layers and wearing comfortable shoes.)

Plan Your Schedule

Review the Annual Meeting & Expo program schedule and seminars and workshops, and sign up for any activities that require pre-registration (note: workshops, seminars, and optional tours require advance registration).

Bringing a guest? Keep them entertained with these fun things to do while you’re busy at the conference. Then meet up with them at the Welcome Mixer (guests are welcome to attend all social events)!
