School Food and Nutrition Management Committee

The School Food and Nutrition Management Committee is involved in various areas such as developing a comprehensive plan for operating school food service programs, recruiting, purchasing food supplies and equipment, and budget preparation.

Mission: Serves as the resource for members in the following areas:

  • operating fiscally responsible school food-service programs,
  • providing improvement in child nutrition programs through legislative initiative,
  • increasing participation by children and districts in nutrition programs,
  • enhancing recognition of classified personnel as active participants in the education team,
  • raising awareness and fostering implementation of HACCP guidelines, and
  • encouraging the use of technology in school food-service management.

    The committee strives to increase professional development in the school food-service industry through the development of ASBO publications and programs related to nutrition programs, and to continue to provide network opportunities related to food-service that favorably impacts student achievement and community services.
