This year’s Pinnacle of Excellence Award honoree is Amy T. Kohl, CSRM, director of business services for the School District of Greenfield in Wisconsin. Kohl is recognized for the senior tax exchange program she established that provides an opportunity for social security-eligible citizens to work in the schools in exchange for a property tax credit. She will receive $5,000, Virco Mfg. Corporation furniture for her school valued at $5,000, an all-expenses paid trip to the ASBO International Annual Meeting & Expo in Grapevine, Texas, and a crystal Pinnacle Award.

The 2015 Pinnacle of Achievement Award winners, each of whom will receive $1,000 and a crystal Pinnacle Award, are

  • Kelly A. Benusa, CPA, RSBO, SFO, director of business services for ISD 279 – Osseo Area Schools in Maple Grove, Minnesota, for developing a long-range financial planning framework that supports financial sustainability and ensures resources are aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Charlotte Gates, director of business services for Sahuarita Unified School District in Arizona, for implementing a program to outsource the district’s business management services to a neighboring district, resulting in more effective school business management for both districts.
  • Michelle L. Hamilton, director of purchasing for Mesa Public Schools in Arizona, for spearheading an open procurement process that gave educators across the state an opportunity to preview technology tools at a technology expo embedded within a statewide Request for Proposals for hardware/software.

The Pinnacle Awards are presented annually to four school business administrators who have implemented innovative practices to improve the efficiency of schools and school districts and to make a difference in the education of young people.
