School Business Officials Awarded for Innovation and Resourcefulness

Ashburn, VA – The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) is pleased to announce the recipients of ASBO International’s 2023 Pinnacle Awards, which recognize innovative school business professionals for their resourcefulness and creativity in solving the challenges that school districts face today.

The awards, sponsored by Virco, Inc., showcase replicable projects and practices that allow district business leaders to share and implement new ideas to support their schools and communities effectively.

The ASBO International 2023 Pinnacle of Excellence Award recipient is Jeremy Larson, EdD, superintendent of schools for Paris Union School District 95 in Paris, Illinois. Larson is recognized for his pioneering work in establishing an innovative school-based health center that integrates physical and mental healthcare services, directly addressing the immediate healthcare needs of the school community. In addition, the center actively fosters a culture of wellness and preventative care, demonstrating a forward-thinking approach to the holistic well-being of students.

The 2023 ASBO International Pinnacle of Achievement Award recipients are:

  • Brian E. Allen, deputy superintendent, chief operations and financial officer for Worcester Public Schools in Worcester, Massachusetts, for an initiative that moved student transportation from contract to in-district control and significantly expanded opportunities for students.

  • Bobbie Stuart, business manager for Bayard Public Schools in Bayard, Nebraska, for a partnership between the rural district and the community that brought a much-needed childcare center to the area.

  • Jesse Walck, business manager for Panther Valley School District in Lansford, Pennsylvania, for shared municipal services agreements with the community that resulted in a safer environment for students, enhanced opportunities for students and community members, and cost savings for both the district and the local governments.

  • “On behalf of ASBO International, I am pleased to congratulate the 2023 Pinnacle Award winners,” ASBO International Chief Operations Officer/Interim Executive Director Siobhan McMahon says. “Time and again, school business professionals have proven their ability to innovate in ways that create positive, meaningful change for their districts. Their initiatives are a testament to their commitment to the students and communities they serve.”
