John D. Musso, CAE, RSBA
An experienced educator, John Musso brings over 30 years of experience to his current position as executive director for ASBO International. During his career, Musso has been a teacher, principal, and deputy superintendent, and served as chief financial officer for the District of Columbia Schools immediately prior to coming to ASBO International. He has supervised the business support functions of school systems, including finance, transportation, procurement, technology, maintenance and operations, human resources, and nutrition services. In addition, he has supervised Title I and vocational education while performing the supervisory functions of the CFO.
During his tenure as a principal and under his leadership, Musso's elementary school was acknowledged by the Colorado Legislature and United States Department of Education as one of the top eight highest-achieving elementary schools in Colorado. Prior to earning his teaching certificate, Musso was a mental health worker for 11 years in a closed confinement treatment center for troubled adolescents.
Musso holds the designation of Certified Association Executive (CAE) through the American Society of Association Executives. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Science and Math with a focus on education from the University of Northern Colorado, a Masters of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Northern Colorado, and School Administrator Credential and Licensing from Western State College, Colorado.
