She is driven by the knowledge that the more she knows about instruction and what the district needs for its students, the better able she is to extend limited funds to meet those needs. Whether it’s ensuring fiscal integrity within the school district, training and mentoring current and future school business officials, overseeing her district’s afterschool and school nutrition programs, or helping organizations be good financial stewards, Haas has dedicated her career to serving others.

His leadership in the areas of student learning, collaboration, and stewardship has garnered him recognition as an exemplary professional committed to serving the profession, strengthening relationships with the community, and meeting the needs of all students. Hoffman is an innovative problem solver who has put taxpayer dollars to work to dramatically improve teaching and learning in Jefferson City schools.

Tammie McGarr spent more than 17 years with the Mississippi State Auditor’s Office supervising school district audits before moving to the school district side of finance. Her depth of financial knowledge, integrity, and communication skills helped her lead the Starkville School District’s merger with Oktibbeha County School District in 2015. In less than four years, she has overhauled the district’s accounting practices and established and implemented internal controls. A mentor to her colleagues around the state, McGarr is committed to ensuring she and her staff are always ahead of the latest school business issues.

Robin Zimmerman, who has been in the school business profession for 28 years, is keenly aware of how every aspect of the business office reaches the classroom and works diligently to transcend department boundaries to contribute to educational planning for student learning. Describing herself as the “Guardian of Resources” for the children of Peekskill, many of whom live in poverty, she works tirelessly—often behind the scenes—to ensure all students have the resources they need to explore and learn within and outside the classroom.
