First-time applicant?
Start by preparing your pathway to the mba application packet.

Complete only 2 of the 4 Meritorious Budget Award Criteria Checklist sections

☐ Completed Pathway to the MBA application: FY2023-2024, FY2022-2023    
☐ Cover letter specifying any MBA criteria that do not apply to your school district.
☐ Complete the Executive Summary and one other section of the MBA Criteria Checklist . (Second year Pathway applicants must complete the Executive Summary and a section not completed the first year).
☐ Reviewer comments from the previous year (if applicable).
☐ Your school district’s responses to prior year’s comments (if applicable).
☐ Budget document or a link to your budget document.
☐ Pay application fee

Districts may apply for the Pathway to the MBA for 2 years.

Prepare your Meritorious Budget Award application packet:

PAY APPLICATION FEE ONLINE

  • Click on Login at the top of this page
  • Log in using your ASBO International username and password (follow prompts below Sign In button to retrieve your username and/or password)
    • If you are not an ASBO International member or do not have an account, create a free new account in your name.
    • Begin typing your district name in the Organization field. From the drop-down menu, select your district name.
    • Complete your account, and use your credentials to log in.
  • Logging in will return you to the MBA Apply page.
  • Find your district’s Total Revenue, All Funds in the MBA or Pathway to the MBA fee chart below. Click on the ASBO International Member or Non-Member fee link that matches your district budget. The link will take you to a shopping cart with your application fee.
  • Select the Pay Now button and complete the payment process. You will receive an emailed receipt.

    Contact [email protected] for all help with payments. If you select the incorrect fee, the membership team will contact you regarding any balance or credit on your account.

ASBO International no longer accepts hard copy submissions of MBA documents, i.e. books, CDs, flash drives, or paper.

Deadline and Extensions

All MBA and Pathway to the MBA application materials are due within 90 days of your budget’s legal approval.

Eligibility

Any school system in the U.S. and Canada, charter school, educational service unit, college, or university that incorporates the MBA criteria into its budget development process is eligible to apply. New applicants may apply to the award's introductory program, Pathway to the MBA, for the first two years.
