Writer Guidelines

Audience and Topics
SBA is written primarily for school business officials, but readership extends to superintendents, school principals, university professors, school board members, government officials, and other school central office administrators. Our readers look for articles featuring specific management and leadership techniques, practical cost-saving methods, best practices in school finance and operations, and current trends in education.

Style
Typical feature articles range from 1,000 to 1,500 words, although length is flexible depending on the subject. Special feature columns generally are 650 to 1,000 words.

Articles should be clear and concise, free of jargon, written in a conversational tone, and in the author's own words.

Articles cannot promote specific products, companies, or services.
